Wow, after 4 weeks of hard work our American Association of University Women-Petaluma Branch's 2nd effort at float-making for the annual Butter and Eggs Day Parade really paid off. This year's theme was "That's Entertainment" and it was natural to select a movie shot mainly in town as our float's topic.

While the Rose Parade folks don't have much to fear from our talent, our take off on American Graffiti (Petaluma AAUW Graffiti) was well received by the audience. Standing 6 1/2 feet tall and 11 feet from nose to tail, the Cow (finally named "Pamela" - an honor, I'm sure...) made quite a statement. The eggs with graffiti writing about our club's activities over the last 50 years, records with clever titles, and musical notes helped complete the parade theme of a 50's movie and the backdrop of a stylized Petaluma skyline set the scene. Members of the junior high aged softball team that we sponsor were on the float and they enjoyed tossing bubble gum to the kids, as did two of the high school young women from our Sister-to-Sister Summit.
